Burn The Flame is a multi-genre singer songwriter who has spent a lifetime writing and performing original music, until one day he lost his voice completely. After nearly ten years of being unable to sing due to recurring severe throat problems, he finally scheduled surgery to remove a cyst and repair his damaged vocal chords. Less than a week before surgery he was feeling very depressed, and decided to stay home alone and play some songs he used to perform. Convinced he would be unable to sing them he still tried anyways, and to his surprise his singing voice had nearly fully returned. He had tried to sing again many times in the past, but without success. Call it what you want, but he and many others are convinced this was a miracle, and that he has been blessed with a second chance to do the thing he has enjoyed most in his life – to sing and play his original music.

Burn’s life has taken him to many different places, while facing many different challenges. Although his road has been a long one, he will be the first to tell you that he is blessed by his faith, family, and music.

All songs were written, performed and recorded by Burn, with exception of drums performed by Kyle Duppestadt. The name “Burn The Flame” came from a tribute to Burn’s father who passed away from cancer. It then went on to be a symbol of his faith that he had lost for many years. It is the hope that these songs may bring some peace to those facing difficult challenges in their lives, and bring back some faith in a higher power or purpose than our own.

Please see below what a well-known music reviewer recently wrote about Burn The Flame.

“Listening to Burn The Flame was like visiting an old friend. His vocal style is filled with warmth and recognition of the human soul. With a mixture of pop, rock and christian rock the singer takes you on a personal journey through life and many different feelings. The purpose of music is to create pictures in our mind’s eye and along with that comes a tidal wave of different emotions depending on who you are, your life circumstances and where you are going. Wherever you are or whatever your purpose is, BtF will help you find the way with excellent instrumentation, soaring emotive vocals and heartfelt lyrics.”

Change The World

() January 1,1970

Lyrics

Pretty much what’s going on my friend
Take a minute and I’ll tell you the rest of the story
Ain’t got no time for grand philosophy|
I can barely keep my head above the tide

See I got this house and I got these kids
And the truth it troubles me inside
I’d change the world if I could change my mind
If I could live beyond these fears
Be wise beyond my years
I’d trade it all for a little security

Give it all for a little laughter
These days have been filled with tears

See I got this house and I got these kids
And the truth it troubles me inside
Tonight

Pretty much what’s going on my friend
Take a minute and I’ll tell you the rest of the story
I’d change the world if I could change my mind
I could live beyond these years and be wise beyond my years

See I got this house and I got these kids
And the truth it troubles me inside

Change the World (Fade to end)

Lyrics

Does he make you happy
Or does he make you sad
Does he leave you stranded
And does it drive you mad
Does he turn his back on you
When you need him most do you get it

You can stay forever wait forever for changes
You can pray for better
Just remember you’re dreaming

So you think you’re happy
Who did you think you’d fool to believing that
Do you ever notice he’s not around yeah
Thinks he’s got it all in his hands
If I’m wrong then baby why you keep calling me here
Treating me like your knight in shining armor
I don’t want to intrude on you and your happiness
But he’s got you down and I believe it’s time, time for someone else

You can stay forever wait forever for changes (And they may never come)
You can pray for better
Just remember you’re dreaming
And I can make your dreams come true

I know that you believe him but
I know that you got reasons but you can’t win
And I know that you keep holding on
Tell me girl is it really gonna get better then

You can stay forever wait forever for changes
You can pray for better
Just remember you’re dreaming
And I can make your dreams come true

It’s Our Love

() January 1,1970

Lyrics

I don’t know where you are tonight
I don’t know how it ends
I don’t who’s wrong or right
It don’t even matter

If only you my dear could just see what were throwing away
It’s our love we’re tearing apart, yet we won’t change
It’s our love

You don’t know where I am tonight
Do you know how this ends?
I only ask one more time
Please don’t leave this way

If only you my dear could just see what were throwing away
Our love we keep tearing apart, for we don’t change
It’s our love

Burn The Flame

() January 1,1970

Lyrics

Don’t wanna live in the darkness
Just wanna be in Your light
Don’t wanna drown in a pool of sin
Not here tonight

Lord I know You are tired of hearing my crying
Every time I’m in pain
But if I promised You a thousand times I’d still do it again

There’s people crying, even dying a little more each day
Why don’t they open up their hearts and lives and let You in

If we burn the flame tonight in Your name
I just want You to know how much You mean as we burn the flame

I know some people are trying
But then there’s liars and cheats
There’s braggars with daggars they’re so vicious
With tongues like swords they cut so deep
Some even say that You don’t exist, but I don’t pay them no mind
I can’t imagine a world without You, and I wouldn’t even try

People crying, screaming, fighting, it ain’t getting us nowhere
Why don’t we open up our hearts and we’ll find You there

If we burn the flame tonight in Your name
I just want You to know how much You mean as we burn the flame

Don’t wanna live in the darkness
Just wanna live in Your light
Don’t wanna drown in a pool of sin
Just don’t seem right

Lord I know You are tired of hearing me crying
Every time I’m in pain
But if I promised You a thousand times I’d still do it again

People crying, screaming, fighting, it ain’t getting us nowhere
Why don’t we open up our hearts and we’ll find You there

If we burn the flame tonight in Your name
I just want You to know how much You mean as we burn the flame
Burn The Flame tonight in Your name
I just want You to know how much You mean to we burn the flame

Its Your night Lord
Take a load off
Dim the lights
You’ve had a long day
Now Pour Yourself a glass of wine
Sit in that comfy chair
Think of about nothing just for a while
And behalf of the millions, and millions, and millions and millions and millions of lives You’ve saved we say thank You
And we praise You

If we burn the flame tonight in Your name
I just want You to know how much You mean as we burn the flame
Burn The Flame tonight in Your name
I just want You to know how much You mean to we burn the flame

Burn The Flame!

Lyrics

Same old road, same old pain here we go again
Who can hurt each other the most today
How can I be so alone when you’re right here beside me
Who will be the first to run away

I just hope it’s high enough to forget you
I just hope it’s high enough to never see your pain
Cause baby I can’t take it another day

Say goodbye, isn’t that what you meant
The day you decided it’s time and you left
How can you be you be so alone when you’re right here beside me
It’ll never be the same

I just hope it’s high enough to forget you
I just hope it’s high enough to never see your pain
Cause baby I can’t take it another day

It’s his words I tell you now
There is one life, one love, but most of all there is one God
Believe It, it’s your life now live it
You can run away, or you can run to it
There’s one life, one heart, One.

I just hope it’s high enough to forget you
I just hope it’s high enough to never see your pain
Cause baby I can’t take it another day
I just hope it’s high enough to forget you
I just hope it’s high enough to never see your pain
Never see your pain
Never see my pain
And maybe we can make it another day

I Believe

() January 1,1970

Lyrics

Do you know me
Can you hear me
Are you really even there
Then why do I feel invisible to you
What do you want from me
Why do I keep asking all the same things

Everyday I live my life
Searching for the answers why
Still I can’t remember what I’m searching for

I believe
I believe
I believe in you

For there are moments in my life
I’m scared to open up my eyes
Another mountain I must climb today
Now is it too late
Should I just run away
I haven’t given up completely
Oh don’t you give up on me

Everyday I live my life
Searching for the answers why
Still I can’t remember what I’m waiting for

I believe
I believe
I believe in you

What do I want from you
I keep asking myself
What am I ready to give
After all you’ve done for me
I’m gonna give you my life

Because I believe
I believe
I believe in you

So you know me
Still you love me
Now I know your really there
For I can feel you here with me
I can feel you here with me
Lord I can feel you here with me
